Introduction

Hello Everyone!

Before I begin blogging, I'd like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Cairone. I am 28 years old and a senior at Lehman College and I will be graduating in May with my BA in Accounting. I work full-time as well and just recently received a promotion at work which entails a lot more hours and work. I have absolutely no knowledge on the political system which is why I enrolled in this class. Please bare with me if you disagree with my views and opinions as I am slowly but surely figuring this whole "political system" thing out. I know that this is a bad time in the world to speak politics, and being new to it and all, I can only ask that if you wish to comment or have a debate, please be mindful that A) I am new to this so my I may not see some things as clear as you veterans and B) this is over text and things can be misconstrued - so please be mindful of what you say and how you say it. Other than that, I am looking forward to learning new things and hearing some of your own opinions and takes on the political system as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Revisiting the Constitution: We Need Term Limits for Federal Judges

I couldn't exactly choose a quote from this article as I think everything is very self explanatory. But I would like to comment on it and share my opinion. I agree with this article very much. I don't think it is right to have a judge serve for "several decades". As much as I understand that longevity and experience are some of the best qualities to have in your career, however, in this case I don't think so. Keeping someone in a position for a long amount of time isn't giving any room for a fresh set of eyes, or a smart young judge to come along and be up with the times instead of being stuck with ways and traditions from 30 years ago when they were just starting.

Power

"A majority (57%) of Americans believe the federal government today has too much power. Most of the rest say the government has about the right amount of power. Few say the government has too little power. Americans were least likely to be concerned about the government's power in the years immediately after 9/11, but half or more since 2005 have said it has too much power." This quote is pretty clear. It is simply stating that most of our country believes the government to have too much power and the rest say the government has just enough power with very few people saying that the government doesn't have enough power.  I am a believer that the government has just enough power if not too little.
